Professional Development
In a field that is unregulated by the federal government, nannies must fend for
themselves to provide professional development.  Fortunately, there have been
some great resources brought to the industry.
Nanny Essentials: A necessary
tool for the childcare professional
, by Angela Rheingans is a wonderful tool
focused on ways to enhance job performance.  This book includes tips on
record keeping, ways to improve and maintain effective communication, and
portraying a professional image throughout employment.  Unlike many of the
book on the market dedicated to hiring, firing and interviewing nannies, Nanny
Essentials provides tangible tools to implement immediately for the
professional nanny.  This book makes a great gift for new nannies, a wonderful
resource for nanny employers, and a professional development tool for the
career nanny.  It is intended to be used with the
Nanny Essentials Log Book.
“Very comprehensive and obviously written by a
true professional who knows the nanny profession
from the inside out.” -
Glenda Propst, co-founder
National Association of Nannies

“I think you have done an excellent job providing
a thorough overview of the nanny-employer
relationship and how to make it work on a
professional level. It should be considered
"required reading" for every family considering
hiring a nanny and for every nanny entering the
field.”
-Tonya Sakowicz, professional career nanny
and owner of
www.nannyanswers.com.
